Sex doll brothel = prostitution?

This is an interesting one, and probably only in China. In a rapidly growing capitalist country, you can see creative ideas everyday.
Police are scratching their heads when they notice a "sex toy doll brothel" gaining popularity in Huludao (葫蘆島), Liaoning (遼寧) lately.

Local media report that the faces of these dolls replicate those of popular actresses / singers. These dolls are said to be of very high quality and can make specific sound in response to various actions and touches. Johns come in to the brothels, pick their "prostitutes" and go into one of the rooms.

There are no laws banning prostituting sex dolls in China (and I bet no where else!) and police have no way to tackle them.

The owner of "Lust Garden" (消魂苑) said his business helps satisfied people's desire to chase after stars.

Responses from society have been positive. A famous sociologist and sexologist Li Yinhe (李銀河) say sex dolls are "accessories" for sexual activities and should be seen as a "normal entertainment".

Li thinks renting out sex dolls and room service is "just like renting out a life buoy". She said this couldn't be defined as prostitution.

Sociologist Zhou Xiaozheng (周孝正) said things not written into the law should be allowed. "There is legitimacy in this new industry of renting out sex dolls because it has nothing to do with prostitution at all."

Online discussion boards are exploded with comments about the "brothel" . Most praise that the idea can satisfy star chasing desire on one hand, and cut sex crimes and spread of STDs.
