Olympic Clock vandalized

(caption: Olympic Clock at Downtown Vancouver was vandalized by demonstrators yesterday. Ming Pao photo.)This is not very good. Dozens of the anti-poverty activists threw paint onto the Olympic Clock yesterday, after a rally that spanned from the Victory Square to Robson Street.
I don't mind the rallying, as long as it is peaceful. But I cannot understand the logic behind all the damaging/disrupting acts these "activists" are making. Smashing things on the streets, vandalizing politicians' offices, throwing paint at the Clock.... are these going to change anything? Are these going to attract more empathy from the public? Other than making a noise and nuisance, what goals have they achieved? Are the poor benefitted from these acts?
I recall watching a homeless man telling TV a few years back when they set up the tent city near the Science World that these "activists" never slept in the tents with the poor. They were there only when the media were there. The slipped away the minute reporters drove away, this man said.Well, maybe I'm too old... or maybe too conservative to understand radical actions.
